Hi All,
As we did not hold an auction this year to raise money for KWC foundation we will be offering a few race teams for sale.
The race team will consist of some of Niki's grizzle family which flew very well in the 10k race from Natallie Hill approx 560km as spares or birds that had been purchased.
3 of Niki's birds where placed in the top 14 places, being 1st, 2nd, and 14th.
The remainder of race team will consist of our Pirie Pied's from David Cunningham and our long distance families.
Teams of 6 birds $250 and Teams of 12 birds $500 plus freight
We have had fairly good success with these birds over the last 8 years winning in excess of over $50,000 in Breeder Plate sales,One Loft Races etc
All money raised will go to the KWC foundation if any other flyers wish to offer race teams to help with foundation please contact myself by email.

We have had quite good returns for both races since my last loft report being
27 Netallie hill birds and 17 from Walgett. All owners have been notified.
There are still birds in the loft that I have not been informed as what
the owners wish to happen with them.
That is leave for two year old race ,sell with proceeds going to KWC foundation or
return to owners. If leaving for 2 yr old race could owners make sure that their birds
have been bred for that distance.
There will be another ring race again next year with rings available for that race at
25 cents each plus 5 dollars for each bird entered ,
Donna and Rodney won this years race with their bird that came second congrats.
If we get the numbers this year all prize money will revert to the original
number of prizes plus there will be a prize for the ace bird of that series.
From what I have been told the Rota vaccine is not that far away all being good ,
hoping that there is not another virus around the corner.
I have built another cage / loft with a complete wire floor
for the birds upon arrival so as any bugs etc will not be easily passed on I hope.
We will start taking birds from the 9th of December at the front of the
SAHPA hall between 9 am and 11 am and at the airport after noon .
I have been told that Virgin is cheaper and a lot less hassles than Qantas.
I will be going to Melbourne in late January to pick up birds , address will be advised
as soon possible.
Best of luck with the breeding season.
Regards Fricky.
Hello again,
We ended getting a few more birds back in both races making returns for the 10k race just over 50% ,a little disappointing compared to the first race and the last 15 or so tosses.
There were 3 clubs that raced from north of Broken Hill on the 17th of September is probably one of the reasons for the low returns with the very strong winds WNW also a factor.up to 45 km per hour, the wind speed was originally 15/20 kms on Sunday.
I have had more birds reported since the last report from Mildura ,Ouyen and areas south to Keilor .
Hopefully we dont have this problem next year.
I have been asked several times as to why there were so many WTB rung birds in the 10 k race.
Firstly we replaced all birds lost to ROTA virus and any birds lost around the loft with spares and nearly all birds had WTB rings on them, not all the spares were bred by Niki or myself .
Secondly we had a ring race within the 10k race, it was posted on our site on the 21st of November and quite a few flyers used our rings to be in the race
The ring race was won by Rodney and Donna with their bird that came second.
Anyone wishing to be in the ring race, rings are available for 25 cents each ,
contact me and they will be sent out.
Its a bit disappointing that some fliers who left birds here for the 2yrold still did not pay for them,
so the pool was a little lower than expected 6400 dollars .
Birds that are to be left here for the long race must have a 50 dollar deposit paid for each bird by
December 31st 2017 or the bird will be disposed of some way/ perhaps sold?
The prize money for the Walgett race is as follows.
First 3000 dollars
Second 2000 dollars
Third 1000 dollars
fourth 500 dollars
Plus free entree into the 10k race for 1 bird for the remaining birds that got home in race time.
Could all owners of all birds that returned from both races please contact me in regards as to what
you would like done with your birds, returned or left for the 2yr old race or perhaps sold to raise
money for KIDS with CANCER.
We will not be having a fund raising auction of stock birds until the vaccine for Rota becomes available in the not too distant future.
If anyone is interested the first 3 birds home in the 10k race were all grizzle cock birds.
Just over 70% of birds home in the 2yr old race were cock birds ,
it just goes to prove cocks are worth racing.
Regards Fricky

Hello everyone
As everyone would know by now, we got Rota Virus from birds received from Sydney.
As I said in the last loft report, I would keep receiving birds from unaffected areas.
At the time of getting birds from Sydney there had not been any birds reported with the virus in the Sydney area according to Rob Marshall.
Unfortunately Dr Marshall decided not to inform the pigeon fraternity that the virus was in the Sydney area for at least 10 days prior to his announcement on Pigeon Radio, which was 3 days after I received the birds.
If he had notified pigeon flyers through social media as Dr Walker did as soon as he had his first case I would definitely not have taken possession of those birds.
Anyhow, we've had it and have lost four of the birds for the 2 year old race and 31 in the10K race.
We lost approximately 17% of all birds on the property, owners of those lost will be notified soon.
All birds lost will be replaced with spares.
At the present time there are at least 40 lofts infected in the Adelaide area, so we've decided to go ahead with the race because there is no possibility of us spreading the virus.
The races will be on the North East Line, the same line of flight as the last race in 2016, just over 70% returned. As we had to stop taking birds, we are short
in numbers to pay out all prize money. Anyone wishing to enter the race we have spares in the loft to allocate to flyers for $100 each, the bird remains the property of the breeder
At the present time we've had inquiries for about 50 spares, money would not be required until we know the races are definitely going ahead.
I hope the majority of flyers would want to continue raising money for the Kids With Cancer Foundation and the only way to do this is to maintain the number of birds to 400 plus.
Anyone wishing to fly spares contact myself.
We had the last bird die on the 9th February As an experiment to see if the virus is still in our lofts, I'll be putting at least 30 one and two year old birds in the loft on the 16th April.
The trial birds will be coming from a Rota Virus free area of South Australia.
With the information I have received from several flyers it looks like the virus has run its course and died out after 8 weeks. That is despite what has happened in W.A. recently, however I could be wrong.
On a slightly different note, the birds I gave Greg Hodgins and 4 other flyers in S.A, N.S.W. and Vic were given to them a week. before the birds arrived from Sydney.
None of the flyers except Greg got Rota Virus. Greg's case of Rota Virus could have come from his late bird from the Alice race or maybe from Lou Lou his little dog that we looked after while he was overseas. Greg picked the dog up the day after we got the birds from Sydney.
I'm sorry its taken so long to get this loft report to you all but I've been so busy with the birds and I wasn't too sure what was going to happen.
All the best
Fricky

Unfortunately the W10K loft has contracted the Reo virus, we strongly believe this was transmitted from Sydney, the birds have been in lockdown and will be until a vaccine is produced, at this point in time 16 birds have died from around 700 birds we will keep all fanciers up to date with any information as it happens directly below

I am still accepting birds for the KIDS WITH CANCER One Loft Race with the hope of a vaccine being found or manufactured for the treatment of REO virus before the start of this years race season .
Colin Walker is fairly confident of this happening in the not to distant future.
I definitely will not be accepting any birds from areas that REO virus has been detected or areas near by .
I know it is a bit of a risk, but if every pigeon fancier is honest about getting the virus within thier loft and contacting the relavent authorities it will be a lot easier to try to manage.
We currently have approximately 150 birds in the loft with about 50 booked in to arrive in the next 10 days.
Any one wishing to enter the race that cant breed or send birds we have birds in the loft that can be purchased for the entry fee of $100 dollars .
When we find out about the vaccine availability that would be the time to place an order for any spares as they would already be in the loft.
If a vaccine is not found in time for this years season I will house, feed and care for all the birds at my expence thus it wont effect any prize money for the following year.
We have raised nearly $14,000 dollars in the first two years of running this One Loft Race for the Kids with Cancer Foundation and I think like most of us fanciers it would be a great shame if we cant do it again this year.
It is a wait and see game at the moment hopefully for not to long.
If anyone would like to contact me regarding my decision or for any other reason please feel free to phone or email me. Best of luck to everyone for the future.
Can flyers let me know if you intend to send birds over for the 2017 series
